HMFC is the men’s soccer club at the University of Hartford, the abbreviation of HMFC stands for Hartford Men’s Futbol Club. The club was founded not too long ago, only back in 2017 by three individuals Brian Leone, Justyn Trott, and Isaiah Coleman.
The way that they all met each other were in different ways. Freshman year here at the university Justyn and Isaiah were roommates. Justyn had played soccer his entire life, however Isaiah was a very athletic person he had never played soccer before. Justyn would go to kick the ball around and Isaiah would start to join him and Isaiah started to enjoy playing soccer very much, because it was another way to exercise and stay active.

The year after that Brian Leone becomes a freshman here at the University of Hartford, and he has also played soccer for his entire life and enjoys the game. Brian signs up to play intramural soccer, but does not have enough people to make a team of his own, so he fills out a free agent form and plays with that team. That is when he meets Justyn who is also a free agent for intramural soccer, and they bonded and decided that they wanted to start the process of making a soccer club on campus, because there was none at the time.

The went through the draining process of creating a club and all the little details that included creating a constitution for the club and then the hardest part of all getting people to actually want to be apart of their club. They would have kick-arounds scheduled and they would put flyers all over campus and tell different people that sounded interesting, but sometimes it would just be them and if they were lucky someone they had never met before would show up, but then never come again.
After all of the long grueling process they were finally able to create the club and get approved by the Student Government Association and join a league. It was a tough start for the club as they only won two games in their first season and struggled with commitment from team-members. The second season of this club was a huge improvement the team had a much better season and finished fourth in the league, behind state schools Uconn A and B and URI. We are currently in our third season as a club and the club is growing massively as we had 23 new members joined the club this year.
They built a great platform to work off of and keep this club thriving for years to create a great history to it and because of that the club would like to thank them by dedicating this website to Brian, Justyn, and Isaiah.
